Amazing summer with fantastic flying

Hi everyone!

It has been a while.
This summer has just been so incredibly busy. Good weather just keeps coming in bucket loads, so not much time for this little duck to update our wee blog.
We have been having the most incredible summer ever. Hot sunny days just keep coming. Sunscreen and my hat are life's essentials these days. The other day I think I heard the weather man saying - the last decent rain we had was mid December - and that is now 1 month ago! No, I am not complaining. I love our Queenstown summer, just keep it coming!!!!!!!

Angus, our chief pilot, managed to get away this month too. On January 7th, he flew some impressive 127km off Coronet Peak to the top of Lake Ohau on his solo paraglider. And that in a respectful time of 5 hours. Mt Cook was soooooooo close, and the NZ Distance record was another 14km away, but he was simply running out of daylight. See below some of his amazing pics.

It's officially Spring! Time for Hang Gliding again!

Wow! Doesn't time fly? (pardon the pun!) We are very excited to announce that our Hang Gliding tandems are back up and running again for another season.

Don't worry though, winter is not over yet. We are still operating our spectacular Winter Paragliding flights over the skifield from the summit of Coronet Peak at 5400ft!!

This year we have a brand new Hang Gliding van to add to the fleet, Angus and Fi have been busy getting it all ready & kitted out with all our equipment & making it all nice & shiny for our customers!

What a brilliant summer we've had this year with the Hang Gliding and Paragliding.

Coronet has had a dusting of snow in the last week, won't be long before we are knee high in the white stuff, we can't wait!!

Angus came second in the Hang gliding Nationals

Congratulations to Angus Tapper, our chief pilot, who came second in the Hang Gliding Nationals, recently held in Wanaka. 4 Tasks have been flown. The field of 35 pilots from all over New Zealand found great, sometimes challenging flying conditions.

Beautiful winter flights

Wow, what a fantastic run of stunning winter weather we have had.

The snow launch off the summit of Coronet Peak has been very popular. Here are pics of a beautiful winter flight off Coronet Peak.
The wind has been finally picking up today after about 14 days of flying straight.
With the weather forcast being stormy, lets hope there will be some snow coming to Queenstown!

Brand new gear!!!!

Oh it has been a rather busy summer despite of being in a recession. But Queenstown's numbers in general have been up.

Just recently we have upgraded our gear and bought 2 new tandem paragliders and 1 new tandem hang glider. See pics of our new babies below.

First frost today! Ohhhh winter is coming! Very exciting, we are starting to look forward to the winter flights off the summit of Coronet Peak!

Yes, it has been a great ski season so far!

Good snow conditions, nice winter weather and a brand new base building up at Coronet Peak!

We have also been quite busy with our tandem paragliding off the summit of the skifield.
